Looking for restaurants that are vegan in Austin, Texas?
Eating vegan while traveling can be tough, but eating vegan in Austin, Texas is easy!
Here are some places to check out next time you’re in the capital of the Lone Star State.
Make sure you pin it for later!
We liked this 100% vegan restaurant so much that we ate there twice, once for dinner and again for breakfast.
I was the only vegan, but my non-vegan husband and stepson enjoyed it too.
The location is a little quirky, but it’s well worth a visit!
They have a wonderfully diverse menu. It was great that they have gluten-free options as well. Love that!
For our breakfast, we ordered the gluten-free flapjacks (we all thought they were amazing), the chorizo omelette (the JUST eggs are so like the real thing!), and the Citizen Scramble (also amazingly delish).
For dinner, we ordered Texas Tumbleweed, Brussels Sprouts, Tikka Masala, and BBQ “Pulled Plant” Sandwich. All were very yummy.
I was especially excited about the BBQ sandwich because the boys had eaten at a “real” BBQ joint, so I finally got a taste of Austin BBQ vegan style!
For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Avocado Mousse. We weren’t really sure what to expect, but let me tell you, it was to die for! So light, so creamy, so good.
If you didn’t know it was made of avacado, you’d think it was regular ol’ mousse. The cool thing is that it has a cleaner finish to it. Of course, most vegan food does when compared to non-vegan food.
Brentwood Social House
The Brentwood Social House is a super cute neighborhood cafe in, of course, the Brentwood area of Austin. Suzanne Daniels owns and runs it. The food, tea, and coffee are delicious.
They have everything well labeled (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free), so you don’t have to worry.
They have live music and other events each week, such as comedy, trivia, and crafts. How fun is that?
I’d love to go to one of their afternoon teas. If I lived in Austin, I’d be there all the time!
We stopped by for a light lunch/snacks and something to drink in between our sightseeing.
My tea and soup were great. The boys shared a scone and had a latte and cappuccino.
I highly recommend Brentwood Social House if you’re in the area.
The Beer Plant
The Beer Plant is a gastropub with a 100% plant-based menu full of scrumptious sounding comfort foods.
This is a very hip hangout and clearly very popular. It was cozy and warm and a fun place to go for some late-night noshing.
We really wanted to see what it was like, so we popped in at The Beer Plant for some after-dinner drinks and dessert.
Now, I was still full from dinner, so I didn’t eat anything. But, I did have some tea to warm me up though.
Although they have gluten-free options, my husband’s carrot cake was not. So, I didn’t taste it, but he said it was really good.
Next time I’m in Austin, I definitely want to go there for dinner.
My stepson thought it looked like a fun place to hang out. We agreed it would be a good place to mingle and meet people since he’s new to Austin.
Side note: The one thing I have a hard time with is the NAME! We all kept wanting to call it Beer Planet (LOL).
Ah well, regardless of its moniker, it was a great find.
Until next time…
